Using third-party mounting hardware — HDX Audio bars

Prev Next

The audio bar can be mounted vertically or horizontally using the included bracket or a compatible VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) mount. Vertical is the default orientation and is recommended for optimal speaker dispersion.

Physical specifications

Width: 10.70 in (272 mm)

Height: 36.00 in (915 mm)

Depth: 3.93 in (100 mm)

Weight (without bracket): 16.3 lb. (7.4 kg)

Weight (with bracket): 17.4 lb. (7.9 kg)

VESA support: 100 mm x 100 mm

Safety requirement

Installation should be performed by qualified personnel. The mounting surface and hardware must support at least four times the equipment’s weight, a minimum of 69.6 lb (31.6 kg) for a component weighing 17.4 lb (7.9 kg). Insufficient support can cause serious injury or property damage.

Mounting considerations

  • The mount must be rated for at least 17.4 lb (7.9 kg).

  • Confirm 100 mm × 100 mm VESA compatibility.

  • Keep sound paths between speakers and listeners clear.

  • Don't obstruct the microphone array (top of the bar) or the speaker openings.

  • For carts, stands or display mounts, use a stable, vibration-resistant solution.

  • Follow HDX placement guidance for corner and obstruction clearances.

Mounting options for the audio bar

Display-mounted solutions

Display-mounted brackets are often a good choice when the display location defines the primary front of room or when wall mounting isn't practical. Display mounts may be beneficial for:

  • Rooms with glass walls

  • Mobile display carts

  • Flexible meeting spaces

  • Interactive display installations

  • Rooms where wall modifications are restricted

Display-mounted installations can help maintain a clean appearance while keeping the audio bar close to the primary presentation area.

Floor stands

Floor stands can provide installation flexibility when suitable wall locations are unavailable. They are particularly useful in:

  • Glass-wall meeting rooms

  • Spaces with movable partitions

  • Heritage or architecturally sensitive buildings

  • Open-concept collaboration spaces

  • Temporary or leased installations

Advantages of floor-standing installations

  • No wall modifications required

  • Easier repositioning if room layouts change

  • Improved flexibility when room constraints limit placement options

  • Simplified installation in some environments

When using floor stands

  • Ensure the stand supports the full weight of the audio bar.

  • Position the stand where it is unlikely to be bumped or moved.

  • Verify the stand remains stable during normal room use.

  • Maintain recommended HDX placement guidelines whenever possible.

Swivel mounts and articulating brackets for corner installations

Some rooms require the audio bar to be installed near corners because of windows, displays, architectural features or limited wall space. In these situations, swivel mounts or articulating brackets may help orient the audio bar toward the primary seating area. These mounting solutions can help:

  • Direct speaker output toward listeners

  • Improve placement in irregularly shaped rooms

  • Accommodate room design constraints

  • Maintain better alignment with seating areas when ideal wall locations are unavailable

When using swivel or articulating mounts

  • Aim the audio bar toward the primary listening area.

  • Maintain unobstructed sound paths.

  • Avoid extreme mounting angles that could block microphones or speakers.

  • Maintain recommended distances from corners and obstructions when possible.

  • Verify the mount remains secure in its adjusted position.

Typical applications include

  • Corner-mounted displays

  • Irregularly shaped meeting rooms

  • Flexible learning spaces

  • Rooms with limited wall space near the display wall

Recessed and architectural mounting

For projects where aesthetics are a primary concern, recessed or flush mounting solutions may help integrate the audio bar into the room while reducing its visual impact. These solutions are commonly considered in:

  • Executive boardrooms

  • Architect-designed collaboration spaces

  • Higher education facilities

  • Rooms with strict aesthetic requirements

When selecting a recessed solution for the audio bar

  • Ensure microphone and speaker performance are not obstructed.

  • Maintain adequate ventilation.

  • Do not exceed the system operating temperature of 0° C to 40° C (32° F to 104° F).

  • Preserve access for service and cabling.

  • Follow all installation instructions provided by the mounting hardware manufacturer.
