No power to the integrated microphone and speaker bar

HDL300 and Dual HDL300 systems

There may be many reasons why your integrated microphone and speaker bar is without power. Here are a few questions to answer when this occurs:

  1. Did the speaker bar work before?
We ask this to determine if it is a failure out of the box (dead on arrival). If the answer is yes, then a variable has changed and needs to be determined. Move to the other questions and suggestions below.

  2. What do status LEDs on the microphone and speaker bar mean?
The colors of the LED lights on the microphone and speaker bar can reflect different statuses. Review the meanings of the LED colors.

  3. Is the power LED indicator on the connect module on?
The connect module powers the speaker bar via the Ethernet cable. Therefore, if the connect module is not powering up it's likely that the Ethernet cable is the source of the problem.

  4. Is the Ethernet cable securely plugged into the speaker and connect module?
The speakers are powered through the Ethernet cable, which must be securely attached at both ends. It may be useful to test an alternate cable in case the original cable is defective.

  5. Are you using the Ethernet cable provided with the system?
While most Power over Ethernet (PoE) cables would work just fine, some may not meet the specifications required by the system. Check the specifications here to make sure.

  6. Have you power-cycled the connect module?
Power from the connect module is required for the speakers. Therefore, resetting the power on the connect module may resolve the issue in case there is a brownout or another temporary disruption (see our Power cycling the HDL300 system article).
