# Using a USB extender with the CV30 camera

The Nureva® CV30 camera kit provides a powered USB 3.0 hub with a 32.8' (10 m) USB 3.0 extender cable. The hub and extender cable support a 4K video stream and power delivery up to 600 mA 5 V.

Some installations will require a USB extender that is longer than the provided extender cable. Nureva has compared and tested several USB extender options including active optical cable, USB repeater and USB over Ethernet extenders.

With the CV30 camera, we recommend using a USB over Ethernet solution that complies with [HDBaseT™](https://hdbaset.org/) cable specifications. Please see the HDBaseT website for more information about their specifications. If you cannot determine whether an extender solution meets HDBaseT specifications, another option is to compare it against the specifications for the validated options listed below.

## Validated USB extender options

• The [INFOBIT WP301](https://www.infobitav.com/itrans-wp301-kit/) wallplate transmitter switcher kit was successfully tested with the CV30 camera. This is an HDBaseT-compliant solution.

• The [Icron™ Ranger® 2312](http://www.icron.com/products/icron-brand/usb-extenders/cat5/usb-2-0-ranger-2312/) extender system was successfully tested with the CV30 camera. Solutions that have the same specifications as the Icron Ranger 2312 should also work with the CV30 camera.

Note: When using a third-party cable, ensure it meets the applicable country, regional and electrical local codes or ordinances relating to USB cables, Ethernet cables and accessories.
