Nureva HDL410 and INOGENI CAM230 FAQs

As classrooms offer more remote learning options and offices become more flexible spaces, the demand for multiple cameras for videoconferencing is growing. The Nureva® HDL410 system pairs with the INOGENI® CAM230 camera selector to enable automatic camera switching in multi-camera rooms.

Why integrate the INOGENI CAM230 with the HDL410 system?
This integration allows automatic camera switching based on zones set up using Nureva Console cloud and the unified coverage map. It equips multiple cameras with switching capabilities through the CAM230, which improves meeting equity for remote participants of virtual meetings.
What is the unified coverage map?
When the HDL410 system calibrates, this determines the location and orientation of the two microphone and speaker bars in the room. A coverage map is generated that represents the area between each microphone and speaker bar. The maximum area represented by the coverage map is 35' x 55' (10.7 x 16.8 m), which is the maximum coverage area of the HDL410 system.
Which Nureva products offer the unified coverage map?
The unified coverage map is available with the Nureva HDL410 system and is managed through Nureva Console cloud.
Can the unified coverage map be managed through Nureva Console client?
No. Currently, the unified coverage map and zones are available only when using Nureva Console cloud. Setup through the Nureva Console desktop client will be possible in a future release.
What is a zone?
The unified coverage map allows for the setup of zones. When a zone is set, an approximate area is defined within the room. The data to map these zones — as well as the indication of when a sound is detected within each zone — is used to enable third-party cameras or control systems to automate camera switching. The minimum size for a zone is 8' x 8' (2.4 m x 2.4 m).
When the CAM230 multi-camera selector is integrated with the HDL410, up to three zones can be used.

Which videoconferencing platforms are supported?
This integration is compatible with a range of videoconferencing platforms, including Microsoft® Teams and Zoom software.
How many cameras and zones are supported by the CAM230?
Up to three cameras (two USB and one HDMI) can be connected to the CAM230. Each connected camera is assigned to a zone, with a maximum of three zones.
Can a third USB camera be connected?
Yes. By using a USB to HDMI converter, a third USB camera can be connected. INOGENI offers the U-CAM camera converter. Other manufacturers offer similar converters.
Are other switchers/selectors supported for integration with the HDL410?
Currently, only the INOGENI CAM230 selector is supported. The integration of the HDL410 with other camera switchers and selectors is being looked at and may be offered in the future.
Can I monitor the connected cameras using Nureva Console?
Yes. When the integration is enabled and successfully configured, the CAM230 and the cameras connected to it become visible to be monitored in Nureva Console cloud.
Are USB extenders compatible with this integration?
Yes. INOGENI provides a list of USB extenders that are compatible between the CAM230 and USB cameras.

USB extenders are not compatible for use between the HDL410 connect module and a computer. The connect module must be connected directly to a computer using a single USB cable less than 16.4' (5 m) long.
Will specific network requirements be needed?
Communication between the HDL410 and the CAM230 does not necessitate specific network requirements. The data is exchanged between the CAM230 and Nureva Console cloud using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS).
It is important, however, that the HDL410 and CAM230 are connected to the same network.
How do I stop automatic camera switching and manually select a camera?
To turn off automatic camera switching, press the input button on the CAM230 for the corresponding camera. Automatic camera switching can be resumed by pressing the same input button.
Automatic camera switching can be turned on and off during a conference. When the conference is over, the CAM230 will return to automatic switching.
Can this integration be used with divisible rooms?
Nureva HDL410 systems can be used in divisible rooms. This configuration allows for the HDL410 to be separated into two HDL310 systems for use when the space is divided into two smaller rooms — and for the two HDL310 systems to be combined into an HDL410 system for use in one extra-large room.
In a divisible room installation, camera switching would be available only when the HDL310 systems are combined into an HDL410 system. The reason for this is that camera switching is only supported by the HDL410 system.
Can Voice Amplification Mode be used when camera switching is enabled?
No. When voice amplification is enabled, the presenter uses a headset microphone to project their voice into the room through the HDL410 speakers. The HDL410 would detect the presenter’s voice in other parts of the room and include it in the sound location data. In turn, the cameras would respond unpredictably whenever the presenter’s voice was heard.
What security does the Nureva Console cloud infrastructure provide?
The integration must first be enabled by an administrator through Nureva Console cloud and requires network information for authentication. Nureva Console cloud is built on the secure Microsoft Azure IoT platform and secure transport. This keeps data at rest and in transit secure.
