Creating a note

Create, draw on, edit, pin, duplicate, delete and add hyperlinks to notes.

Create notes using up to 110 characters to capture ideas, information, feedback and more. 

Create notes from: 

  • The Span web client using a certified mobile browser
  • The Span web client using a certified computer browser
  • Span Workspace wall client

You can also create notes by copying and pasting text onto your canvas.

Create a Note

On the web

  1. Select Note from the tools menu. From mobile browsers, first click the + icon to open the tools menu.
  1. Select a color to help with organizing and categorizing 
  1. Add text, change the size of your text, or draw on your note using the pen icon 
  1. Click the done checkmark when finished
  1. Drag and drop the note from the tray onto the canvas for it to become visible to all the canvas participants
To quickly create multiple notes while on a device with a keyboard, hold the [Shift] key and press the [Enter] key to create the next note.

Alternatively, access the dwell menu by right-clicking the canvas in the web client. This action will skip adding the note to your tray and instead place it directly on the canvas.

On the wall

  1. Press and hold your finger or stylus on the canvas to bring up the menu  
  2. Tap Note. A note will appear on the canvas.

You can also create a note using the toolbar on the left side of your canvas.

  1. Double-tap the note to open the editing box
  2. Select a color to assist with organizing and categorizing
  1. Add text, change the size of your text, or draw on your note using the pen icon 
Include emojis with your text using the keyboard in the Span software.
  1. Click the done checkmark when finished

Edit a note

Double-click on a note to go directly into edit mode.

Click once on the note to bring up the quick tools bar. Use this menu to

  —  open the edit box

  —  duplicate the note

 —  pin the note

  —  change the note's color

 —  open the link (will only appear if a hyperlink has been added to the note)

  —  resize your note using the increase or decrease icons

 Or, use the three-dot menu to

  • Edit – opens the edit box
  • Duplicate – creates an identical note
  • Copy – copies the note
  • Pin – pins the note to the canvas
  • Add a link – allows you to add a hyperlink to the note
  • Delete – removes the note

You can also access the three-dot menu by right-clicking the note on the web, or pressing and holding in the wall software.
